Affiliate Disclosure

BackyardADU.net is currently an unpaid information site — we
do not earn referral commissions from builders, lenders, or vendors listed
on this site. This page exists to disclose our position transparently and
to set expectations if that ever changes.
Current state
As of April 2026:
- We do not accept payment from builders for inclusion in our directory.
- We do not earn referral fees on builder leads.
- We do not run a sponsored-placement programme.
- We do not have affiliate relationships with prefab manufacturers, lenders,
or design firms.
If we add monetisation
If we activate any of the following in the future, we will disclose it
explicitly on this page and in clear language on every page where
it applies:
- Paid builder listings. If a builder pays us for a featured
or premium listing, that listing will be marked "Sponsored" or "Featured" and
will not be ranked above unpaid listings on the basis of payment alone.
- Lead-generation referrals. If we connect homeowners to
builders for a fee, we will disclose the fee structure and verify that
homeowners' contact details are only shared with builders they explicitly
select.
- Affiliate links. If we link to a prefab manufacturer,
lender, design tool, or other vendor and earn a commission on referrals,
the link will be marked with rel="sponsored" in HTML and labelled clearly
in the surrounding text.
- Display advertising. When we activate Google AdSense or
similar networks, ad units will be visually distinct from editorial content
and labelled in compliance with FTC guidelines.
Editorial independence
Cost figures, ordinance summaries, and city rankings are derived from public
data — not from sponsorship relationships. Sponsorship will never influence
whether a builder is listed, how cost figures are calculated, or which city
ordinances we describe favourably.
